Who can volunteer as a translator or interpreter with OLI?
Anyone with a passion for languages! Whether you’re a beginner eager to build your skills or an experienced translator or interpreter looking to give back, you’re welcome to join our global community.
Do I need professional translation experience to join?
No. We welcome all skill levels. Beginners receive guidance and feedback to professionalise and build their CV, while experienced translators can mentor others and support our mission.
How do I become a volunteer translator?
Simply sign up on our website, fill in the application form, and we’ll guide you through the onboarding process.
What types of organisations can request translation support?
We support non-profits working in eight humanitarian and environmental sectors, including refugee support, women and girls, education, international development, society and conflict, health, environment, and thought and opinion.
How do non-profits request translation services?
Just sign up and fill out our client form online. We’ll match you with the right translators for your needs.
Is there a cost for translation services?
No, our translation services are provided free of charge to eligible non-profit organisations.
What languages do you offer translation in?
We work with a wide network of translators covering dozens of major and minority languages. If you have a specific need, let us know!

What does it mean to be OLI-Certified?
OLI certification officially recognises your language proficiency, whether you’re a business, an adult individual, or under 18. We offer 12 levels (4 for minors), each with clear criteria.
