About OLI
The Open Language Initiative works to break down language barriers and foster cross-cultural understanding. We offer a range of services, including translation support for nonprofits in the humanitarian and environmental sectors, all at no cost to them. From small grassroots organizations to major independent information outlets, we mobilize a global community of skilled volunteers to ensure vital messages are heard, solutions are shared, and global change can thrive.

Our Members
Our membership body comprises volunteer members, contributing members, and sustaining members.
Our Board
OLI is still in its early days. We are preparing for our first General Assembly in Dec 2025. Learn how you can be part of our board.
Our Statutes
When working with volunteers, a robust framework to ensure fairness and accountability is paramount.
Our Finances
We’re committed to keeping our finances open and transparent because we believe accountability is fundamental to trust. As a nonprofit association, every resource we manage comes from the goodwill of our donors and the dedication of our volunteers. By regularly publishing our reports, we ensure our community knows exactly how funds are used—exclusively to support our mission of empowering other nonprofits—and that we remain fully accountable to everyone who supports the OLI Family.
We Partner with Bureau Works
We partner with Bureau Works to provide our volunteers with access to a modern, state-of-the-art cloud-based translation management system (BWX), enabling professional workflows and use of advanced CAT tools with AI features.
