Introducing Elevate: Training with Purpose and Heart

by | Jun 10, 2025 | OLI Volunteers | 0 comments

If you’re a volunteer language professional at OLI and looking to grow, learn, and connect,  we have some exciting news for you! Today, we are introducing Elevate – OLI’s training and development platform for our community.

Elevate is designed specifically for volunteers who want to strengthen their skills, build sustainable careers, and stay connected to a community that shares their goals and values.

Why We Created Elevate

When OLI launched, we wanted to give something back to our volunteers, just as they give back to society by offering their valuable time. We recognise that they bring incredible dedication, talent, and energy – but they often don’t have access to the same high-quality learning opportunities as those in paid positions. So we created Elevate – a space where you can deepen your expertise, reflect on your goals, and gain tools to move forward with confidence.

As the creators and developers of the programme, Susan Ring and Sherif Abuzid have drawn on their backgrounds in teaching, translation, and entrepreneurship to create a training platform that is practical, motivating, and grounded in real-world experience.

Who It’s For

Elevate is free for all OLI volunteers. That includes translators, interpreters, reviewers, and anyone volunteering within our language support network. If you’re contributing your time and talent to help global causes, Elevate is our way of supporting you in return.

What You Can Expect

  • Live Workshops: Interactive sessions on topics like mindset, money management, and client relationships.
  • Blended Learning Courses: Structured six-week programmes combining self-paced modules, live sessions, and community support.
  • Video Library: Short, practical “Training Snacks” you can watch anytime.
  • Our Linguists’ Lounge Community Space: A dedicated space to connect, ask questions, and share impressions of the learning journey.

This is not a top-down training course – it’s a collaborative, evolving community we are building with and for volunteers. We’re just getting started, and we’d love for you to be part of it.

Because growth doesn’t have to wait. And you don’t have to do it alone.
